SKIN RESURFACERS & PEELS

A chemical peel is a treatment performed in a clinical setting that involves the application of a solution to eliminating dead skin cells.

This potent exfoliation process prompts the skin to increase its generation of fresh skin, substituting impaired and aged skin cells with robust and healthy ones.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel works to remove dead skin cells. As a result of this highly effective exfoliation, the skin ramps up its production of new skin, replacing old, damaged skin cells with healthy new ones. In the days following some peeling treatments, your skin might feel dry, and you might notice some flaking as the dead skin peels away. This peeling action occurs at the cellular level revealing smoother, younger, and brighter skin from below that top layer. After around 7 days all the dead skin will have shed, any redness will have calmed, and your skin will be glowing.

What are results like?

Chemical peels are a minimally invasive way to dramatically improve the appearance of skin; helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They also work to improve the appearance of discolouration, uneven skin tone, and sun damage because the peel action removes damaged, dead skin. Chemical peels will retexturize the skin, targeting rough dry skin, scars, and general lumps and bumps. Your skin will look younger, smoother, and plumper around 7 days post-treatment, optimal results can be seen 2 weeks post-treatment.

TREATMENT INFORMATION

  • Please follow the instructions below to prepare:

    • Use of AlumierMD home care products prior to your peel may be recommended to prepare the skin, allow for better treatment results and reduce the risk of complications. This will be discussed at your initial skin consultation.

    • It is recommended that you take the following into consideration:

    • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before and after your treatment

    • Avoid the use of retinoid products (eg. retinol, Retin-A®, Tazorac®) and high levels of AHA and BHA products for approximately 7 days prior to the treatment.

    • Makeup will need to be removed prior to treatment, so please come ‘fresh faced’ if possible.

    • Alumier MD skin treatments result in minimal to no downtime but create dramatic and visible results. Treatments can cause slight redness, tightness, peeling, flaking or temporary dryness. Most patients do not find it necessary to apply makeup, as the skin will be smooth, dewy and radiant following your treatment.

    • Avoid makeup for 12 hours post treatment

    • Avoid direct sun exposure for 14 days post treatment and wear spf of at least 30.

    • Important: Keep your skin hydrated. Hydration is key to proper healing.

    • DO NOT cleanse your skin in the evening of your peel or treatment or pick any flaking skin

    • DO NOT have electrolysis, waxing, threading or any other form of hair removal for 7 days post-treatment

    • DO NOT use facial scrubs, mechanical forms of exfoliation, retinoic acid, AHA or BHA for 14 days post peel

“I had the chemical peel by lovely Izzie. The treatment started off with a thorough consultation discussing my desired outcome and what the treatment consisted of. Izzie then got started on the peel talking me through every stage, product, and outcome making me feel 100% comfortable. Izzie’s knowledge of both product and technique was second to none and I felt completely comfortable in her presence. She was very reassuring throughout regularly checking if I was ok. Following the treatment, Izzie spoke through all aftercare and regularly checked in on me via text message. My skin feels and looks amazing, it’s so glowy, soft, and tight. I will definitely be returning to Izzie.”
